Performance Grades discount: system error

We currently have an error in our systems relating to discount codes. When you add the code your order summary will show that 15% has been added to the total, not taken away. However, the 15% discount will be applied to your booking and the correct total will appear at the top of the next screen before you pay. We're working to fix this and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Grade 5 Music Theory waiver (not applicable in the UK & Ireland)

We are extending our Grade 5 Music Theory waiver until 23 May 2021. This means that candidates with a Grade 6 to 8 Performance Grade exam submission date up to and including 23 May can take their exam without first passing Grade 5 Music Theory. We are making this exceptional arrangement to allow candidates who have been unable to take an exam in recent months to progress with their learning. From 24 May, the Grade 5 Music Theory requirement will return. For exam dates/exam submission dates after 23 May, all candidates taking a Grade 6 to 8 Performance or Practical Grade must first pass Grade 5 Music Theory.

The ABRSM International Sponsorship Fund 2021 – now open!

In 2012, ABRSM set up the annual International Sponsorship Fund (ISF) as part of its commitment to inspiring musical achievement worldwide. Creating connections with music teachers and learners around the world is a fundamental part of ABRSM’s day-to-day work, not only as a leading provider of music assessments and educational resources but also as an advocate for the power and value of music education. The International Sponsorship Fund is just one way in which ABRSM supports musical journeys, whatever and wherever they may be.

The ISF welcomes programmes that provide opportunities where there are barriers to access. It places a focus on high quality music education projects and programmes whose activities may include training for teachers or providing inspiring experiences for learners by encouraging progression. Community activities, such as local festivals and outreach work are encouraged, as well as high quality performance opportunities for young musicians in youth chamber ensembles, orchestras and choirs.

This year, the ISF will provide individual grants of up to £5,000. The impact of the ISF is wide and varied. It is open to organisations outside the UK and Ireland, and so far over 30 different organisations have benefitted from the fund, with recipients across Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Latin America and the Caribbean.   In Jamaica, it has enabled instruments to be bought and repaired, in Columbia it has supported teacher training, in Namibia it has supported education projects, which use music to motivate and support young people.

Despite the turmoil of 2020, ABRSM remains committed to supporting the musical education of those communities that need it the most and so we are delighted to announce that the ISF 2021 is now receiving applications.

The closing date for applications is 20 April 2021.
